40 hour certification includes:
15 hours in person with Jivana Heyman
+ 25 hours self-paced online modules and homework
Learn to design yoga classes where all students can practice together in a way that honors and celebrates people of all ages, sizes, abilities, and experience levels.
Take a deep dive into how to adapt asana on the mat, chair, wall, and bed, as well as build the skills needed to lead an equitable and accessible yoga practice.
Flexible delivery learning, combining live in-person training and self-paced online modules. You can complete the training and earn your certificate over the course of a year.

This 40 hour Accessible Yoga Training includes 3 days of in-person training in Astoria, NYC, with Jivana Heyman, plus self-paced online modules & homework.
Studio is wheelchair accessible (street level with accessible entrance, doorways and bathroom)
Parking & subway within 5 minute walk of studio (*please note - closest subway stop does not have an elevator)
All props for the training will be provided
HEPA filter (air purifier) will be used in the studio through the duration of the training

In regards to our Covid-conscious community care guidelines as we return to in-person trainings and events, masks are not mandatory, however if you don't experience any accessibility barriers in relation to wearing a mask, we strongly encourage it, so that we can keep our community members as safe a possible, with particular consideration of those from more vulnerable populations. If you have access to Covid tests, we also recommend testing before attending the live training. If you have any cold / flu / Covid symptoms, or if you are testing positive to Covid, we ask that you stay home, and contact us in relation to course transfer arrangements.

About Your Trainer: Jivana Heyman
Jivana Heyman (he/him), C-IAYT, E-RYT500, is the founder and director of Accessible Yoga, an organization dedicated to increasing access to the yoga teachings and supporting yoga teachers. He’s the author of Accessible Yoga: Poses and Practices for Every Body; Yoga Revolution: Building a Practice of Courage & Compassion; and The Teacher's Guide to Accessible Yoga: Best Practices for Sharing Yoga with Every Body.
Over the past 30 years of teaching yoga, Jivana has focused on welcoming all people to practice and celebrating our individuality and our differences. His work has focused on dismantling ableism in the yoga world, as well as emphasizing the intersection of yoga and social justice. His books, classes, and trainings support yoga teachers and yoga therapists in finding ways to bring creativity and collaboration into their teaching while still respecting the ancient yoga tradition.
