Asana practice can be energizing and strengthening, offering us the endurance we need to face the world. Backward bends, in particular, offer that energizing and expansive aspect of practice. Backbends can help us expand our hearts and prepare us to stay open to whatever life brings. And in our tech-focused world, backbends offer a reprieve and potentially therapeutic benefits from the time we spend slouching over our devices.Â
In this 60-minute FREE workshop, Accessible Yoga founder Jivana Heyman will explore:
- How to make backbending more accessible for all bodies within an adapted mat practice and chair practice.Â
- The benefits of backward bending
- Contraindications of backward bending
He will also offer a short energizing practice with a focus on adapted backbends.
Jivana will end with a short info session about the upcoming Accessible Yoga Training Online that begins March 6th, 2025 — and give away one FREE spot in the training to one lucky workshop attendee!

Teaching Accessible Yoga calls for a toolbox full of skills and techniques that allow us to truly serve all our students. One of the most important skills is effective class planning, which includes creative sequences that are safe and effective. At the same time, as we’re observing how our students are responding to the practice, the ability to be spontaneous and adapt is also incredibly helpful.Â
In this FREE 60-minute workshop, Accessible Yoga founder Jivana Heyman will discuss:Â
- Planning an Accessible Yoga classÂ
- The foundations of designing creative Accessible Yoga sequences
- Sample frameworks for integrated mat and chair classes, chair yoga, and bed yoga classes
- Finding balance between structure and spontaneity in our teaching
Plus, Jivana will share more about the upcoming Accessible Yoga Training Online, which begins on March 6th, 2025 —and give away a FREE copy of his latest book, The Teacher's Guide to Accessible Yoga: Best Practices for Sharing Yoga with Every Body to one lucky workshop attendee!
